Instructor-like roles
Assistant
This role is very similar to the instructor role. Use this role if you expect your assistant to be able to interact with the course in the same way you do. Access to the course will end on the course end date.
Grading Assistant
This role cannot edit assignments, quizzes, discussions, or content. It allows the assistant to access the gradebook and enter and modify grades for all learning activities. Use this role if you want your assistant to help with grading only. Access to the course will end on the course end date.
Content Assistant
This role cannot access or modify students’ grades. It allows the assistant to create and edit assignments, quizzes, discussions, and content. Use this role if you want your assistant to help create learning activities, assessments, and content only. Access to the course will end on the course end date.
Student-like roles
Student Tutor
This role does not appear in the gradebook and you cannot submit assignments or take quizzes. It allows a tutor or other assistant to have access to all content in the same way that a student accesses it. Access to the course will end on the course end date.
Student Extended Access
This role is very similar to the Student role. This role can access the course before the course Start Date and after the course End Date. Use this role if you want your student or assistant to have early access to the course, or if you want them to continue to have access after the course ends. This is an ideal role for students who are working on Incomplete or In-Progress grades.
