Overview
The StarID is a user name that is used across the Minnesota State system to access Information Technology systems and services. As systems are configured to use StarID, the number of user names and passwords students and employees will need to remember and use will be reduced. Ideally, a single user name can be used to log into any system and that will be StarID.

- Resetting your password can ONLY be done from https://starid.minnstate.edu/
- It may take up to TEN minutes for email and Office 365 applications to work with the new password.
- Using the option "I know my email address" is the easiest way to reset your password and will not prompt any security questions . Enter in the email address you used when applying or began employment with MSUM (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc).
Instructions:
- Go to the StarID web site https://starid.minnstate.edu/
- Click on 'Reset Password ' or ‘Activate StarID’ as appropriate for your situation.
- Choose a method for activation or reset such as “I know my Tech ID” or “I know my Email Address”.
- Next Steps

- Fill in the Tech ID (which is your Dragon Student ID number). Choose Minnesota State University Moorhead from the drop down list and, then press ‘continue’. Fill in your Social Security Number (without the dashes) and then click 'continue'. Go to Step #5
